Tried getting her into the BIOS to disable secure boot, and what happens? It won't let her turn it off. Automatic Updates installed something that screwed up the checksum, which made the 'secure boot' crap think her system was owned, and refuse to boot. My mom recently though got a new Win8 laptop, and because of the stupid Automatic Updates, she now can't get it to boot, and I'm of course multiple states away and unable to go over and try and fix it. I personally am refusing to use Win8 until maybe next year at the soonest, as its the worst and least stable of any Windows release I can remember (save ME). The problem with Windows 8 is that darn secure boot crap. Now, granted, I am a Cyber Security Consultant, so I secure my systems myself, but that's beside the point: anyone can harden their system from vulnerabilities with relative ease. I have received so many BSODs in the past with Automatic Updates, and ever since I stopped letting them be installed, I've not had a single problem. Windows Updates are MS attempting to fix those problems. With any new program, especially an OS Beta, there are going to be lots of little problems.
